Hello! My name is Silvia Ruiz-Martinez and I will be teaching math at Frank Madla ECHS.  I am originally from Mexico, and came to San Antonio as a young girl.  I attended San Antonio College and then transferred to UTSA where I obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  My love for math drew me to the teaching profession.  I continued my education at Concordia University and obtained a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction with a minor in Mathematics.

My hobbies include spending time with my family, and pets. I enjoy the outdoors and visiting new places. One fun (or not so fun) fact about me is that I don’t know how to swim, but I have made it my mission to learn.  I’m currently taking classes to overcome this obstacle!

As a teacher, I strongly believe that students need to be taught how to be critical thinkers and problem solvers. I also feel that with the right instruction and guidance, students can learn to love math.  Yes, math is beautiful!
